What's our Mission?

So we have talked a bit about the district Vision and what that means to us, so let's move on to the Mission. Our district Mission reads:
"We engage and encourage students and staff every day through meaningful work in a safe and caring environment".
I like that our campus motto also mentions a "safe and caring environment". I guess we added the word "fun" just because we enjoy a good time a W.E. I hope that all of our staff members regard their daily work as meaningful. Being an educator is so time consuming that maybe we don't sit down and take time to reflect about our contribution or the meaning of our work. Something to think about.

I hope everyone has had time to look at the new district Vision ~ All students succeed in a future they create. This statement encouraged me to define the word vision. According to my web source, vision is:
a vivid mental image; "he had a vision of his own death" I know the example is not probably what our district design team had in mind when they wrote our vision, but focus on the definition alone ...a vivid mental image. What does that look like to you? What are your thoughts about the BISD vision?

Vision

I know someone that recently had to begin wearing glasses.

This individual is pretty smart, is level headed and holds a respectable job.

This individual didn't know he/she had a need for corrective lenses until he/she had 2 car accidents. If you are like me, you may be questioning that "smart" part from the previous paragraph.

Isn't it amazing how clear things become when the vision is right?

Birdville ISD will be rolling out a new vision, mission and belief statements this school year. Collectively, as employees of BISD, we are charged with making our decisions based on these. Let's begin by looking at the vision.

Clearly, we will see it is something WE Believe.
